Fire Advisory in Effect


Due to forecast hot and dry weather conditions, a Fire Advisory is now effect for the Calgary Forest Area (CFA) section of the Forest Protection Area (FPA):

  • Safe campfires are allowed
  • Existing Fire Permits remain valid
  • No new fire permits will be issued

The Advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve.

Off-Highway vehicles can start wildfires - check frequently to ensure hotspots are free of debris, and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.

Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished.

WILDFIRE UPDATE - July 27, 2020

The wildfire danger rating for the Calgary Forest Area is HIGH. There are currently no wildfires currently burning in the area.

Since March 1 in the Forest Protection Area of Alberta, there have been 391 wildfires burning a total of 741.65 hectares.
