Deputy Reeve Paul Clark
Paul Clark

Ward 3
My wife and I have lived in the MD for 30 years. We raise cattle on a ranch off Jamieson Road. Previous to moving to Jamieson Road, we lived at Benchlands, where I was president of the community association for several years. I was an active volunteer fireman for over 20 years and now serve on the Emergency Services Committee. I was on the Board and was president of the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation and am presently Chairman of the Board of Managers for St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in Banff.
My mining education started when I was 17 and resulted in a BSc in Mining Engineering and MSc in Management. I was a director for TransAlta for 16 years, where my responsibilities were for their coal operations, as fuel for the power plants, and the plant by-products. In that capacity I was responsible for negotiations with Lafarge for the sale of plant fly ash used as a cement replacement. Although I retired from TransAlta in 2006, I am still an advisor to the energy industry, when requested.
In my capacity as an energy professional, I served on the board of Science Alberta Foundation for 7 years, the Mineral Industry Advisory Committee at the U of A for 10 years and the Alberta Chamber of Resources for 10 years, the last two as a member of their Executive Committee.
We enjoy living in the MD because of its heritage, rural nature and natural environment. As such we active naturalists, me being the photographer and my wife being the identifier of the various birds, wild flowers and butterflies that we are fortunate to have around us.
